Congratulations to ELLE for hosting a fabulous event this Saturday at the Taj Mahal Delhi to raise awareness for Breast Cancer with their Carnival for a Cause, organised by the Ogaan Cancer Foundation.
It was great to see so many fashion designers donating some amazing stuff and even better to see the Delhities out in full force spending to raise money for this amazing cause.
I wanted to thank every Urban Shore customer for the support they showed on Saturday.
There are another two happening over the coming weeks in Mumbai and Bangalore so in case you can spare some time do stop by…once again you’ll have the finest in fashion and beauty to choose from (fashion donated to the event by some of India’s top designers and the beauty obviously coming from Urban Shore).
Until next time,
Take care

ELLE’s Carnival for a Cause; raising awareness of Breast Cancer…
When Hi Blitz wanted to do an interview with me I wasn’t sure what to make of it; it’s Kingfisher’s ‘glam’ magazine that features the latest in Fashion, Bollywood and Celebrities so I didn’t see how Urban Shore and I would fit in but Sharmi was someone I had interviewed with before when she was with India Today and so when she assured me it was would be about my business and not how I looked, I trusted her.
The interview was actually great as I love talking about my experiences in India and what we’re doing with Urban Shore; the photo shoot however was another story! I’m not a natural in front of the camera and was actually instructed to ‘wear more make up’ as generally I hardly wear any and honestly I couldn’t bring myself to ‘cake it on’ and had to remain true to myself.
I truly believe it’s much better to have healthy, youthful looking skin and let its natural glow come out and ‘enhance’ it with make up rather than using make up to ‘cover and create a face’ and so the photos didn’t turn out the way the photographer wanted I think but I was happy as the were very ‘au natural’…just the way I like it!!
The article featured 5 of us young entrepreneurs; all doing something unique and exciting in India so pick up a copy to read 5 amazing stories of very different individuals, all young, enthusiastic and eager to put our own individual marks on the business world.
Until next time, take care and stay true to yourself,
Sonita

We won an award for Best Nail Colours by the fabulous Leighton Denny Expert Nails at ELLE’s 4th Beauty Awards, as featured in this months magazine.
Held at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai, I had a fabulous day, the ELLE editorial team really share my passion for beauty and it’s great to see them championing true quality over just ‘the usual suspects’.
Leighton Denny is of course no stranger to beauty awards having won numerous accolades in the west but for me this award by ELLE was special, not only because I was there to personally pick it up, but because we were competing against the biggest of well-established names in the beauty industry and the fact that it was the Indian edition of ELLE.
We’re launching the Opulence range by LDEN at Urban Shore next week, try my personal favourite Graycious; it’s THE colour of the season,
Until next time, take care

Founder of Urban Shore, Sonita Dass accepts an award from ELLE at their 2010 Beauty Awards
I’ve arrived back in Delhi at the weekend and even this wet weather can’t dampen my spirits as I’ve just seen the August issues of Vogue and Harpers Bazaar and FIVE of our products have been recognised by these Beauty magazines!!
Vogue’s first ever beauty awards recognised us in three categories;
Best of Skincare; where my favourite serum won the award, Leaf & Rusher’s Active Serum is just sheer heaven, its luxurious silky texture means it feels as soft as silk and helps fight signs of aging, I never travel without it to be honest.
Best of Hair Styling went to Philip Kingsley’s Maximizer for volumising straight hair
and Best of Make up: Nails went to a colour I absolutely adore, my personal favourite Leighton Denny Expert Nails colour Gorgeous…the name says it all!!
Each of the products and brands have received unbelievable press and awards in the UK and USA but this recognition in India was really great to see. Of course I do think that more of our products should’ve won but I can’t be too greedy as Harpers Bazaar also recognised two of our brands in the 50 Best of the Best 2010!!
We had Best Suncare was given to Korres Yogurt Cooling Gel
And yet another brand that I LOVE, Philip Kingsley won Best Hair Cleanser for its shampoos Its a shame they didn’t have a category for pre-shampoo conditioners as Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer would’ve won hands down…there’s me getting greedy again J
We’re offering 10% off on all the products that won awards so I hope you’ll all try them out for yourself to experience exactly why they won these prestigious awards.
Stay dry during this weather and remember to start preparing your skin, body and hair for the party season that’ll be upon us shortly!
Take care
Sonita
